喜 February Happiness
1. I was worried that I would spend my first winter in HK missing the snow and cold, but (don’t hate me Marylanders!) I’m loving this just cold enough weather!
2. I reconnected with a friend from my childhood for a really awesome freelance branding project! She’s doing something really awesome, and I’m so excited to get to be a part of creating the identity that will represent it. Looking forward to sharing more on that later.
3. My sweet friend and coworker Nika’s baby Mackenzie Grace came into the world! We celebrated with a baby shower earlier this month, and Mackenzie Grace arrived on the 13th.
4. Karaoke. In HK. Is fun. Probably all I need to say about that, but yeah, it’s pretty darn fun. You get a private room, a bunch of mics and you sing and laugh with good people.
5. My care group (small group/bible study) had a group gathering and the pastor of my church and his wife came and spoke to us and answered questions about love and dating and the like. It was pretty great.
6. More birthdays! Dear Blair had a birthday this month and new friends in HK celebrated another year too! So thankful for you!
7. Valentine’s Day was a love-filled Saturday with friends. I had a delisshhh brunch on a rooftop in Kennedy Town with a dear couple from Portugal, Sweden, a guy from Taiwan and another gal from Portugal- where else does that happen? Amazing! Then I went out to dinner with my hilarious friend Connor, saw my talented friend Louise perform and open for Brady Toops, then went out for some wine with friends. I’d say that’s a good way to celebrate a day about love, right?
8. Friend time. I’ve gotten to spend some really good time with some reeeeallyyy good people. The cool thing about here is that everyone always asks “So, what’s your story?”. That’s refreshing. I’m having so much fun getting closer to the people here and really enjoying surrounding myself with people who have such good hearts.
9. Chinese New Year! I get to add a whole new holiday to my list of yearly celebrations, how incredible is that? So far to celebrate I’ve experienced the joy of giving red packets ($) to my doormen, eating delicious dumplings, having off work, watching spectacular fireworks, playing cards in a park on the grass, and seeing all the adorable kids wear traditional clothing. I’m a fan.
10. Ended the month by celebrating my dear friend and coworker, Justine’s wedding. They were married in Houston, Texas over Christmas break but we all got to celebrate with her here in HK and it was amazing!
