Fundraising Letter
During my undergraduate years at Simon Fraser University I involved myself in campus ministries through Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship. IVCF is intent on developing extraordinary kingdom leaders who have a heart of God’s Word and work, choosing to impact the world He created. Through IVCF I had an opportunity to attend Urbana Missions’ Conference last December 2012. This conference opened my eyes to the true calling for discipleship and missions from Jesus Christ. I left the conference committed to do at least two years of missionary work after my graduation.
Soon after the conference I was contacted by an organization called International Care Ministries (ICM). ICM has been serving the ultra-poor in the Philippines, those who are earning less than 50 cents per day, since 1992. Through ICM’s service more than 100 000 lives are transformed each year, there is a 42% reduction in reported physical abuse, 26% reduction in serious illness, and 33% increase in household income. For the next 3-5 years, ICM aims to reach out to all the communities in the middle and southern part of the Philippines. This initiative requires ICM to expand its donor base and organization itself and they have advertised for a Donor Relations Officer and Human Resource Coordinator.
Now that I have graduated I know exactly what the next step is for me, to obey God’s strong call to do missionary work. I applied for the above position and was hired by ICM starting September, 2013 and will be living in Hong Kong for a year. I am praying to see God’s grace at work and witness more lives transformed through ICM. This experience will not only allow me to help others transform their lives but will also transform my life. I strongly believe that God will use me not only to be an instrument for ICM’s expansion goals but will also use me to show others how much God truly loves them.
In order for me to move to Hong Kong and work with ICM I would need to raise $26000USD over the year. I would like to invite you to partner with me as a journey with International Care Ministries. I pray that the challenge will not only be on me but also to other people who knows how important it is to reach out to the poor and love our neighbor.
